I can't believe it, it's been a whole month since I wrote last. I've been extra busy making things for my Etsy shop, cleaning out my craft room and I've been sick in between. Will share photos as soon as I can.

My great grandson turned one year old on Sunday. His parents had a birthday party for him at a park near them. Wasn't able to go because my blood pressure was too high that I actually thought I was having a heart attack or a making of a stroke.

My TV went out after only being four years old. Thought it was my cable company's fault but it wasn't. I hate spending the amount of money we paid for it just to have it go out in four years. Technician told me that I was lucky that it lasted that long for as much as I watched it. I use to fall asleep with it on, leave it on for my dogs so they wouldn't get lonely when I was out about town and have it on even when I wasn't watching it just so I could have some noise in the house. I forgot about the sales rep telling me that this tv would last 100,000 hours and that it would last for some time. Hah!!! he didn't know me. So I'm out looking for a new tv and you all know I will be shuting my tv down when I'm not watching it. Sometimes I wonder if these flat screen tv's are worth it, my daughters small tv has lasted her for 25 years with no problems.

Well I have to go for now but will be posting pictures soon.

and a plaque. I love how these turned out. Remember in a earlier post I mentioned how I cut through the sleeve of a doll that I had just finished while trimming the hair? Well I finished her new dress and here she is! Belle is her name.

I received a new pattern from Sweet Meadows Farm and made her up yesterday. I love all of Maureen's patterns. She's a country prairie primitive. She looks loved and well worn. I usually don't make real grungy dolls but I think she just turned out beautiful. I'm naming her Laura after the child in "Little House on the Prairie". I loved that show. Wish there was more like it.

I also finished up a plaque by Terrye French. She's another one of my favorite dedsgner. It's called "To Market".

And last but not least is a pattern I've had for along time and thought I'd make it up. It's a cute stuffed bear made in lavender.

Well that's all I made this week. I want to try my hand on one of Maureen's black dolls and a chicken.

in bed. Have you ever had one of those days? I just finished one of my dolls and thought the hair needed to be a little shorter when all of a sudden I felt it and I heard it and then you know you cut something more than yarn. I managed to cut through the sleeve of my dolls dress. Ohhh.. I was so mad at myself. Now I'll have to make a new dress. So I decided to go get some lunch and I should of saved my money, the food was awful. Then to make matters worse, I went to pick up my lunch and Max decided he'd have some fun by chewing up my orthodontic insoles. I guess I should of stayed in bed and forgot about crafting.
Anyway I do have two more dolls to share with you after I take their pictures later today.

Look what I got!!!

It's been awhile since I received my swap from Natalie but my camera was acting up but now it's fixed and I can share what I received. I got a Levi pocket filled with two bunnies, a package of Peeps (Yum), the cutest of shelf bunny in blues. I also received some little note cards, some page markers and some foaming hand wash. Thanks Natalie for a fun swap!

I also mentioned that I rescued a puppy from the streets and that I would post some pictures but the ones I took when she was new didn't turn out because of my camera acting up so here is one of him lying beside my 3year old dog. We named him Max (he is the tan dog) I don't know what kind of dog he is and I don't know what I was thinking about when I picked him up. I've had the privilage of being surprised by a snail in my house on the carpet (had to wash carpet before Easter beause of the trail of slime that was left behind), all sizes of stones and tree limbs in my house and the best just happened two days ago (when the winds were blowing real bad) was two dead baby birds. What was I thinking!!!! But he is so cute, you just got to love him.

Well I need to work on some dolls today. Sold all my dolls on Ebay yesterday so I better get busy.

I'm findly beginning to feel human again. :0) Here's my latest pillow covers. I just love the spring colors, don't you? After all this snow I know some of you will be glad to welcome spring into your home.

I've got to get back with my housework, it went to pot while I was sick and then we adopted a new puppy and you know how this goes. I think he was a dumpster diver because he can get into everything from shredding paper to bringing in twigs to pulling out my slippers from who knows where. Wasn't sure how Dixie (my other dog) was going to accept him but she and Max seem to be getting along, as long as I don't give them any raw hide bones. Dixie will eat hers then go after Max's but not without a fight. Will have pictures soon.

I am so thrilled to be making these pillow covers that even though I feel like crap with this sinus cold I can't stop. It seems to get worse in the evenings so I might as well be doing something in the mornings when I don't feel as bad.

I've had this bad sinus cold this past weekend and haven't felt well enough to do much of anything. I did manage to add a new line to my Etsy shop. I'm making decorative pillow covers. Pillows are an accessory that can change the look of a living room or bedroom. It's not always feasible to get a new bedroom or living room set, but you can make a big difference by changing your accessories. I constantly change my pillow covers with the seasons or my mood and now you can too! I will be adding more as soon as I get over this dang cold. Anyway, here is the first set of many. I will be making covers for 14", 16" and 18" pillows.

Well have to get back to work, I have to make a new rabbit head, I was putting the whiskers on it and the needle wouldn't go through so I used my small scissors to help push it on through and ended up puncturing a small hole in it. Ugh...I was almost done with it.

Well my first plane ride was awesome. I was so surprised that it seemed so slow. It seemed like I was riding in a blimp not a jet plane. Take off and landing was smooth, that was the only time you could feel how fast you were really going.

Even though it was a trip for my Uncle Dario's funeral it was a fun trip revisting all the family and seeing Monterey again. My grandchildren had never seen the ocean let alone run their toes through the sand so it was nice seeing it through their eyes.

I've got to get in the mood again for creating. Being off a week and my hand hurting I really am finding it hard to start again. Bunnies are waiting so I guess I better get to them or Easter will be gone before I know it!

First Plane Trip

Sad to say my Uncle Dario died last week and I will be leaving on Tuesday to attend his funeral. He was a gentle man, very devoted to his catholic church and I know he is with Jesus in heaven. I will be flying with my Mom for the first time ever. I'm a little apprehensive about the idea, everyone tells me it's not bad except for the lifting and landing, I guess I'll survive it. I will be going to Monterey, CA my home town were I was born and raised for the first 10 years of my life. I'm looking forward to visiting my grandmom's home (it is marked as a historical site now) and our old play yard called "Dennis the Menace Playground." I hear it's still there and I remember all the good times we had at Pebble Beach on the pier. I wish my husband and daughters were going with me but someone has to stay and watch the animals. I closed my shops until I return so if anyone wants anything they can leave me a convo and I will reply as soon as possible.

Warming Up...Yippy

Well we're finally having some warm weather! My arthritis has been terrible the last few weeks. I have two custom orders that seem to be taking too long to finish. My fingers just don't want to do what I want them to do. I finally had a day where I could paint the faces on a few dolls. Besides the two orders I have managed to get them stuffed and will share them as soon as I get them completed and pictures taken.

Public Enemy #1

Well it started out as a nice weekend until my dog bit a child riding on his bike yesterday evening. Dixe has never bitten anyone before, but decided to yesterday. As I was trying to get my daughter in the door she dodged out, I thought she was going to greet my husband and daughter(who had driven in behind me) when she turned and proceeded to chase the boy on bike. It was a puncture wound so the parents came over and told me they were going to take him to the doctors and if I would cover the costs. I told them that Dixie has had all her shots and if they thought it was warranted to go ahead and I would pay for the meds, if he was put on any. The father took it wrong and accused me of not being concerned for his son and then he commented "that if I wasn't willing to pay for visit then maybe he should call the police and report it."
Well to make a long story short the policeman came and wanted to know what happened, documented it and took a mug shot of my dog.
I don't know what is going to happen next but I'm sure I'll be fined, my husband threatened to get rid of the dog, so who knows what will happen next.
I haven't heard from the parents, the policeman said it was mostly superficial wound with one puncture so we'll see if they come by or maybe I'll try to find the boy who lives on the next street over and see how he is doing.

Well all the Christmas decorations are down and packed away for another year, all except my nativity set. I love to keep that up until the end of January. I still haven't done all that I wanted to paint and sew so we will see how it goes. I am going shopping with my daughter today, hope I can finish with gifts and start on decorating my house for the holidays. Still need to get my tree, hopefully today. Two New Dolls

I just finished up an elf doll that I'm very pleased with, I had to finish it all in two days, I just had to see how it was going to turn out. It is a design from The Vintage Polka Dot .

The other one is a gingerbread doll from Sweet Meadows Farm.

My Grandson is Coming Home

Today is the day my grandson Joe is coming home from Afghanistan. He's been in the Marines for the past 3 1/2 years and will be finishing his commitment in July. This will be the first time he will be able to see his little Zack for the first time. We thought the baby would be born after his return and he'd be able to particpate on this eventful day but Zack was ready to come now. I wish I could be there when he sees his son for the first time but will have to wait when he comes back into town. I'm sure he will be proud.

Sorry it's been awhile since my last post. I had the unforunate problem of my computer crashing and ended up at the Geek Squad for 3 weeks. Sheer torture, it's funny when we get so dependant on using a computer and missing it. Still working out some of the bugs and missing all my patterns and photos that I bought and downloaded. They wanted $90.00 dollars to backup my files and of course I said no way! Luckily I remembered that my Norton backed up my pictures and files so I'm hoping to get all those back. I'll have to email them and hope that extra feature my husband bought on our last renew order is correct. To make matters even worst my car took a big dump, had to have the fuel pump replaced. Whoever thought of putting the fuel pump in the gas tank should be shot. Spent more on labor fees than the cost of the part. Oh well, everything is back to being back to normal and hoping to get back to taking pictures and posting some of the items I've been working on. Bye for now. Hope everyone has a nice weekend.

It is so hot and humid today. I hate this kind of weather, it's 107 and I haven't felt like doing anything, and I hate to say so but I haven't. I have so much to do I don't even know where to start. Let's see, I want to paint my living room, have to take pictures of dolls that I've finished and I have a new paint book by Renee Mullins that I want to start painting some of her designs. Oh well maybe tomorrow.

Just finished a couple of dolls and thought I'd share with you all. This first one is a doll that is a design of mine, she's dressed in a blue dress with Noah's Ark on it. The second doll is one that will go on sale on Monday as part of our Autumn Celebration at Old Farmhouse Gathering. She is a design by Sweet Meadows Farm.
The other items for our celebration are a pumpkin with florals on it and a picture of a scarecrow that I painted that is designed by Renee Mullins, but I think I'll keep that as a surprise for Monday.

I was sent this picture of one of the dolls I made for a dear customer. She had ordered it for her daughter who was expecting a child. She has earned the honor of sitting in the rocker in the nursery, at least til the child gets big enough to use it. I think she looks lovely there, don't you think?

I HATE ants!!!! For the last two weeks I've put my battle fatigues on and battled with ants. I sprayed my yard and foundations with pesticides that were supposed to kill those little buggers. Sprayed the inside just to have them back again, and they show up in the darnest places. I got my iron out to press some muslin, turned it on and out came a borage of ants from the steam vent. Ugh! Killed them all with the steam only to take my iron out again today and yep there they were again. And this is after we had to enlist an exterminator. He said to give it a week for them to be all gone and if they returned we'd explore other alternatives. So needless to say I didn't get much done. I will have some pictures up tomorrow of what I did get done.

Been real busy sewing and painting and filling orders. Just finished two dolls. The first one is from The Olde Country Cupboard. It features lambs wool hair that has been needle felted in head and embroidered facial features. She is dressed in an Americana dress with apron and is wearing muslin pantaloons. She comes with her star and tag.

Next is a design from Sweet Meadows Farm. I just love how she turned out. She is wearing a pink dress with white daisies and is carrying a pinwheel. Her eyes are painted and all the other features are embroidered.

I also managed two finish these two ornaments. Was waiting on ribbon and wire.

Have ten more dolls in the process of various stages so I better get back to sewing. will post again when I get them done.

Christmas in July

The snowman is from Old Country Cupboard. The Santas are from Country Whims and the ornaments are from a magazine designed by Shara Reiner.

I always love the winter season and I try to get as much done as I can for Christmas but I always fall short. By the time Christmas comes along I'm already pooped out from painting for all the other holidays. So this year I started early, I started sewing and painting after Easter. I got a lot of stuff done but waiting for the Christmas foliage to come into the shops. I'm going to start participating in the after holidays sales so I can be prepared for next year. Anyway here is a little preview of what you will be seeing in my Etsy shop in the next couple of days. As always if you see something you have to have you can email me. Will get more pictures up as soon as my camera's battery charges.

Well I haven't got my pictures for you yet of the Christmas items I've been working on but I do have some of my paintings. First is a peg plaque of a primitive rocking horse designed by Terre French.

Next is a design from Renee Mullins of a cat and a mystical pumpkin. It sits on a black vase that doesn't show very well in picture.

And last is another design from Terrye French. It is painted on a plaque that can be hung on the wall or used in a decorative easel on your bookcase or shelves.

for some time. It's been real busy around here with doctors appointments and dental problems. But I have been able to get some sewing done. I've been busy sewing angels, santas, raggedies and snowmen.
I was going to wait until July to give a sneak peek to what I've been doing but I decided to show you earlier, so as soon as I can get some pictures taken I will be posting them shortly. I have also been doing some painting.

Well I have been finishing up some orders and thought I'd share them with you. First is a lady that wanted these gingers done in light lavender. It must have been a gingerbread week because I had another order for this little ginger sitter in Williamsburg Blue.
I thought I'd give you a tip that I came upon while I left my drybrush with paint in it from last night. I thought I had ruined it so I thought how mush easier it was to wash my hands with hot soap and water and maybe it would work for my brush. So I ran it under some hot water and the paint clumped on my brush. I then used a sponge that has the teflon scrubbie on it and ran it across it. Came out just like it was new.

Here is the little bunny that I made for a dear friend of mine. She wanted it done in purples. Sorry she is sold but anyone wanting one can email me and order one in their special colors.

I found this nifty clock at the Goodwill and painted it black and painted a Terrye French design on it. I put all new clockworks in it.

Next is this file box painted with another Terrye French design of a raggedy annie, sheep and gingerbread.And last, but more to come, is this Americana plaque for July 4th and summer. It too has a Terrye French design. I love painting her designs best of all.

Well that's it for now have to finish up a special order of gingerbreads I have ordered. You will be able to find these items in my Etsy shop. I also have a link on my blog that will take you there. Have a nice eveing everyone.

I can't believe how long it's been since I last posted to this blog. I'm sorry to say I haven't been feeling very well. My back has been giving me some problems and I couldn't sit for very long. And then my blood sugars were all over the place (I'm diabetic) and then to top it off I dropped a x-large jar of mayonnaise on my big toe. Good thing I had my shoes on but it still hurts like the dickens. In between the times I felt good I managed to get some painting done and will have them up on my blog when I finish taking the pictures, made a bunny for a friend and another doll by SMF. Yesterday I made a Santa make do but I don't know when I will be posting that. Might wait til it gets closer to July. I'm trying to have a Christmas in July happening in my Etsy shop. We'll see how much I can get done. I'm just going to have to take better care of my health, like not sitting to long on a project, get up and stretch and get more than 4 hours of sleep. After all I'm no longer a spring chick no matter what my brain tells me. Anyway gotta go, pictures will come soon.

I've just finished two 23" Annie dolls and one wabbit. The one in pink is for our OFG Mother's Day Celebration, which will be going on soon, so keep checking back for start dates. The one in rust has a dress that has birdhouses on it which inspired me to make a blackbird for her arm. I also added a blackbird button that I cut and painted. My purple rabbit will be going on Ebay tonight and will start at .99 cents in appreciation to all my customers.

1. What is the name of your Etsy shop and why did you choose that name?

My etsy shoppe is called Icehousecrafts. I choose that name as when I started selling and buying online we lived in an old farmhouse of which was once an icehouse for the farm that we lived on. The walls in the icehouse part of the house were 24” thick stone. The farm was established in 1905.

2. How long have you been on Etsy?

I’ve been selling on etsy since February 2008.

3. What type of items do you offer?

Mostly on etsy I offer hand painted stenciled wood signs. I have also offered hand painted vintage pieces from time to time.

4. How long have you been crafting?

I’ve been doing crafts since I was a young girl...from crochet to macramé and finally to decorative painting. I’ve been painting fulltime since my middle son was a toddler so about 18 years for painting.

5. Who or What inspires you?

Customers are a great source for inspiration. They give you the framework for an idea and things just go from there.

6. What is your favorite item in your shop and why?

I have to say my favorite things in my etsy shoppe right now are my ouija board sign and wrong answer sign. The ouija board sign because as a young girl I was fascinated with “how” it worked. The wrong answer one, well it’s just obvious from looking at it as to why! LOL!

Well here's my bunny I have been working on for the past week. She's the one that I called extreme prim. Her body and clothes were all grunged with coffee, vanilla and cinnnamon. 1. What is the name of your Etsy shop and why did you choose that name?

When I was a little girl, my family moved. I was very lonely but found a library near our home, so I would walk there every day and spend hours browsing at books. I found a book titled Apple Tree Cottage and I was absolutely swept away by it. The cottage was a magical place where peace and love was found. I decided if I would name my shop in honor of this book that has such an impression on me when I was young.

2. How long have you been on Etsy?

I joined Etsy in January, 2008.

3. What type of items do you offer?

I offer an eclectic mix of vintage, folk art and primitive items. I love to paint on old pieces that have a story to tell when they come my way.

4. How long have you been crafting? FOREVER!

I have been fortunate to be surrounded by people who have encouraged me since I was small. My husband and my daughter are my two biggest fans.

5. Who or What inspires you?

I love things that come to me with a history. Old boxes, drawers and coffee pots have a story to tell and I like to add just a little “prim” icing on the cake when I find a piece that longs to be reinvented.

I can’t say I have one favorite piece. I love everything I paint… each item in my store is something that I would place in my own home.

I'm Going To Be A Great Grandma!!!!

My grandson and his wife are expecting their first child in Sept. or October and I couldn't be more happy for them and a little sad at the same time. Joe is going to be shipped out this month to Afganistan and possibly miss out on the birth of his child. I just pray that the Lord brings him home safely to enjoy his new family! This is their wedding picture taken last May.

Just finished new items for Easter. I sewed 10 bunnies and one new Annie. I've made several other Annies but I still need to make them clothes. Will send photos as I get them done. I made one rabbit that I'm sure everyone will love. It's a design from Sweet Meadows Farm. It's one that is real primitve. The clothes and everything has been grunged with coffee, vanilla. I usually like my fabric fresh and not stained but I really like how it turned out. I till have to make and stain the pants and as soon as I get them done I will post.
Gotta go, busy watching Nascar racing and sewing at the same time.

My first entry is this lovely Raggedy Annie in a sweet St Patrick's Day dress. She has painted eyes and facial features and has golden wool hair.

Just finished up a doll for a customer and thought I'd share her with you. The woman wanted pink hair and I wasn't to sure about it, but I did as she requested. The color was to bright for me and so I remembered someone mentioning on one other site where they had tea dyed it with tea, vanilla and cinnamon to tone down the brightness of her raggedy's red hair. So I gave it a go and really liked how it turned out. The pattern is one of Sweet Meadows Farm. Let me know what you think! I started two more dolls and hopefully will get them done soon.

Sorry I'm a little late for wishing you all a happy New Year. I can't believe it's been four months since my last posting. I've had a few health problems and to top that off my father-in-law passed away in December. So needless to say I'm glad it's a new year with new beginnings. I was able to get a few things made and if I can remember how to post pictures on this blog I will have them up shortly.

Well here I sit in triple digit weather for the past week and yearning for the cooler Fall weather of October. The hills in So Ca. have been on fire for the past week adding to the discomfort. I sure do appreciate what the fireman do, risking their lives and all, but it amazes me how they can put up being near a fire when its 106 degrees and they have to carry 60 pounds of equipment on their backs. I salute every one of them.

I haven't felt like painting this week because of the heat but I did manage to sew two new purses and a flower pin cushion with a scrapbag attached. I received my order of some Amy Butler material so look for some new purses! I love working with colors and textures material has to offer.

Well it's getting late so it's off to bed for me. Tommorow's another day!

As promised I have my pictures for what I did this weekend. The butterfly welcome sign is for my Grandson Joe and his new wife. I'm just having a tough time deciding what kind of lettering I want to use and the color. Next is a new tote bag that I finished for Halloween. I just fell in love the way these witches looked. And last is a Santa sleigh designed by Renee Mullins handpainted by me. I do a lot of Renee's designs, she is so talented. You can see all of my items on Etsy. and I'm still confused, will have to get some of my sisters at OFG to help me out. I was busy this weekend finishing up a project for my Grandson who is in the Marines. He just got married and wanted me to make him a welcome sign for his new home. She wanted buterflies and the color turquoise so I used one of Renee Mullin's designs and changed the colors. Still trying to decide what colors to make the lettering. I will post pictures soon. Have to recharge my camera battery. Also, I finished a Christmas project of Santa and Rudolph. Working on several more for the holidays just have to put on the finishing touches.

Well, I'll try this again. I'm new to all this and I wrote my first post and went to preview it and lost all that I wrote. So this will be short (tired of typing) and not sure my brain will let me think that long. Just kidding. Anyway, I create many various crafts and I wanted a way I could share my accomplishment with my friends and family. I hope you will bare with me while I learn the ins and outs of blogging. Well at least I finally got my header to fit within the margins. Got to go, my house finally needs my attention. I planned on washing my walls today so I can paint my living room and dining room in near future but here I sit, so I guess I better get to it. Have a nice day.
